Stop renting your website. Build one you own.

Most platforms rent you a spot and keep the keys. Own your code outright, move it anywhere, and pay about $40 a month instead of a subscription that never ends.

This will change how you approach website building. The days of drag and drop builders are over.

$129 once for the course. Lifetime access. Build at your own pace.

Build One You Own: the website course

The Contrast

Renting isn't building.

Same website, two very different deals. One you pay for forever. One is actually yours.

What you rent

  • × Monthly fees, for as long as the site exists.
  • × Your code lives on their platform, not yours.
  • × The day you leave, you start over from zero.

What you own

  • The code is yours, every line of it.
  • Fully portable. Pick it up and move it anywhere.
  • Roughly $40/mo, all in. No lock-in, no penalty for leaving.

The stack runs about $40/mo and the code is yours to take anywhere. Kajabi's cheapest tier alone is $143/mo, and the day you leave, you start from zero.

The stack you own

Claude Pro (includes Claude Code)$20/mo
GitHub (unlimited private repos)Free
Vercel Pro (commercial hosting)$20/mo
All in≈ $40/mo · $480/yr

What platforms charge

Squarespace Core (+ add-ons, cost stacks fast)$276+/yr
Leadpages Grow~$1,188/yr
Kajabi Basic$1,716+/yr
And you ownnothing

Straight talk on hosting: Vercel's free Hobby tier is for non-commercial sites only. A real business site belongs on Pro at $20/mo — so that's the number we quote. Competitor prices are their best-case annual-billed rates. Domain is ~$10–20/yr either way, so we leave it out.

How It Works

Three tools. One site you own.

No mystery, no jargon. Here's the whole stack in three lines.

1 Claude logo

Claude builds it

You describe the site. Claude writes the actual code: real HTML and CSS, not a template you're renting.

2 GitHub logo

GitHub stores it

Every version lives in your own repo. It's yours, it's backed up, and it goes with you.

3 Vercel logo

Vercel publishes it

Push a change and it's live in seconds on a fast, secure host. No servers to babysit.

What's Inside

By the end, you'll have a real site live.

Not a checklist of modules. A straight line from zero to a published site with your name on it.

Who It's For

For people who'd rather own the thing than keep leasing it.

Coaches, solo founders, and makers who are done paying rent on a platform they don't control. If you've ever felt trapped by a subscription, or worried what happens to your site the day you cancel, this is for you.

You don't need to be a developer. You do need to want the keys.

And if you love your current platform and never think about it? Genuinely, keep it. These are fine tools. This is for the people who want to own their corner of the internet instead of renting it.

Who's Teaching This

Darrel-Lynne (Dee) Thieson, founder of OGSoul.

Dee hosts the Chatting with Humans podcast and her writing has appeared in two published anthologies. After nearly twenty years in operations and executive support, she went independent in 2024 and has been building businesses and systems on her own terms ever since.

She's not a developer.

When she rebuilt her own website with Claude, GitHub, and Vercel, she wasn't writing code from scratch. She was doing exactly what this course teaches. She came out the other side owning her site outright, with no monthly platform bill and no one to call for every small change.

Build One You Own is her way of handing that same independence to the people she works with best: coaches, founders, and makers who are done renting their place online. She teaches in plain language, in a calm, easy-to-follow, step-by-step process.

FAQ

Questions people ask before they buy.

How long does it take to set up a one-page website with this workflow?

Realistically, this can be done in a weekend.

What if I don't have experience using Claude?

I walk through the whole setup, so this is made for a beginner.

If I get stuck, are you able to help me?

Yes. You automatically get access to The Operating Room, and I answer questions as they arise.

What if I want to build a multi-page website, not a one-page website?

This course is built so you can do both. In the course videos I show how to prepare a one-page website, but there's also a prompt for you if you want to start with a multi-page site.

I already have a site on Squarespace or Kajabi. Can I move it?

Yes. You can have Claude review your live page by sending it your URL, or send it screenshots of your existing mock-up, so it builds the same features into your new site.

I want to have a cart feature and storefront on my website. Is this possible with this build?

Not this build, no. This course teaches you to build a site, not a store, so there's no cart, no product catalog, and no inventory. What you can do is link straight out to a checkout tool from a button on your page. That's how I sell this course: the button on my site sends you to ThriveCart, and the whole transaction happens there. Same for Stripe, or whatever you already use. If you're selling one thing or a handful of things, that setup is honestly cleaner than running a storefront. If you need a real shop with dozens of products and a cart people fill up, this isn't the right tool and you should know that now.

Build a website you own. Pay once a month, not forever.

$129 once for the course. About $40/mo after, only for the stack you choose to keep running it on.

This will change how you approach website building. The days of drag and drop builders are over.
